Our Primary Practice Areas

Our consulting services can be broken down into three primary practice areas as summarized below.  If you would like more information on any of these areas, click on the links to the left.

Computer Forensics

Our Computer Forensic services are provided by highly qualified individuals with the certifications you can trust and the discretion you can count on in your most sensitive cases.

Count on us for the technical expertise to recover the data you are looking for using authenticated procedures that will stand up in court.

Our forensic services are used by individuals who have lost data by accidentally deleting it, or more often, when a hard drive crashes and they lose a lot of files or images.   Many times when support tells you everything is lost off the drive, we can recover the files and or photos you have lost for a nominal fee.

Count on us for the technical expertise to recover the data you are looking for using authenticated procedures that will stand up in court.  Whether you have a court case or just need data recovered, we have the knowledge, tools and discretion to help you.

Management of Information Consulting

Whether you are looking for an outside party to assess and/or review your Information Services or operate as an Interim or part-time CIO or IT Manager, you will find our experience and our ability to communicate with both technical personal and C-level executives is unsurpassed.

Our service is often needed by small to medium size businesses that can not afford a fulltime CIO or IT Manager and/or staff, companies that need additional resources to catch-up or help them through a project or transition, and companies that have concerns about whether an existing IT organization is operating at it's full potential.

If you need help aligning your business goals and your technology needs, you should give us a call.  We can lend a hand to help guide you during transitions, major projects or in developing long term technology investment plans, disaster recovery plans or business continuity plans.

Information Security Consulting

Securing your information comes in many different forms.   Obviously you need to physically secure access to your computers and networks, but there's much more to it than that.  (eg. although it helps, locking your doors won't keep hackers out).

If you are facing new regulations and or concerns about the security of your data, we can help you by offering assessments of your existing security and/or help you develop plans to secure your operations.

Some of the products and services our Security Practice offers include the following:
  • Perimeter Security Assessments and Plans
  • Ethical Hacking
  • Intrusion Detection
  • Securing Wireless Networks
  • Educating your employees about the role they play in securing the company's data
Other Security Related topics and links that all computer users should be interested in:

Helpful Hints on IDENTITY THEFT
– by Mike & Charlene Kessler
January 2007
Each Year Identity Theft crimes increase. According to the government in 2005, Georgia was ranked 9th in the Nation for reported identity thefts. Identity Theft is the “unauthorized use” of a persons name or information. The most common type of Identity Theft is the unauthorized use of one’s credit card information.

Prevention Ideas:

  • Anything with your name or address on it should be run through a crosscut shredder.
  • Do not place outgoing mail in your residential mailbox, instead place in a USPS blue mailbox, or take it to the Post Office. The red flag up on your mailbox is an indicator to others to come see what is inside.
  • Get a Post Office Box, have your credit card, and other financial statements sent there. This will even help when you need to go out of town.
  • Limit the information you place on your personal checks. Do not put your phone number or SSN on them.

    What does a ship have to do with technology consulting?  ;

    Honestly, nothing.

But we wanted a name that would emphasize our integrity.  We went through the thesaurus looking for words that might help us come up with a catchy name and found the term above board.

Above board  was originally a nautical term for honesty.  It originated during the days when pirates tricked victims by hiding most of their crew below decks.  Captains who openly displayed most of the crew on deck, above board, were considered honest merchants.

So, in looking for a name of a consulting practice, the term above board seemed very appropriate  And since it was a nautical term, a ship seemed like a good logo....
